Isaac Lindsky is a blind, mathematician and sitcom star. Before his blindness started setting in he saw the world like everybody else, or rather didn't see it. However as his newfound disability started progressing he had to adjust his perception of reality. He would look at things and they'd have parts missing, so his brain filled in the gaps. From sinks actually being urinals and salespeoplebeing mannequins, Isaac had to find a new way to think.
In the book Catcher in the Rye Holden Caulfeild struggles with his perception of reality. Holden says at one point,"Don't ever tell anybody anything. If you do, you start missing everybody"(214, J.D Salinger). His perception issue is what feeds this paranoia that others with leave him, but by doing this he is causing his fear. Isaac's response to this delema is,"Your fears, your critics, your heroes, your villains --they are your excuses, rationalizations, shortcuts,justifications, your surrender". Isaac's solution is simple, believe in yourself.
